A lively and varied restaurant and a cafe quarter is already starting to emerge with restaurants, pubs and cafes scattered throughout Sunniside into what will hopefully emerge as the City’s cultural quarter. The area already boasts the award winning Museum and Winter Gardens as well as the contemporary art gallery on Fawcett Street. A 12 screen cinema opens shortly. The evening economy is strengthening.
There are leisure opportunities throughout the area but predominantly adjacent to the multiplex cinema development, with an emphasis on evening economy/night time uses. It is estimated there is the capacity and demand to create an additional 1,650m² of leisure floor space.
