The Sheepfolds site is part of a wider regeneration master plan with the adjoining Stadium Park which centres around the creation of a “Sports Village”. The development will build on the success of the Stadium of Light, focusing on leisure based activities to create a centre of excellence for sport for the north east.
The “Sports Village” concept will include leisure related retail which will complement the other developments on the site, including Sunderland AFC’s Stadium of Light and the Olympic-sized swimming pool.
Proposals for the site are for 2,000 m 2 of specialist leisure based retail that will attract people from all parts of the north east to the development.
