Sheepfolds provides an excellent opportunity for a dramatic residential development, sited on the north bank of the River Wear with views of the proposed landmark Vaux and Farringdon Row developments that lie across the river.
The Concept Plan for the site, which encompasses Sheepfolds and the adjoining Stadium Park, foresees the creation of a “Sports Village” for the area, building on the success of Sunderland AFC’s Stadium of Light that is situated on Stadium Park.
Proposals exist for a footbridge over the River Wear that will allow residents of this area to directly access the facilities provided in the proposed Vaux development and also the City Centre.
