Grove

Extending along the River Wear’s south bank and comprising around 35.17 hectares (87 acres), this area has long been a focus for major industry in Sunderland. The cessation of this industrial usage leaves an area that is designated to become a new neighbourhood for Sunderland. The site will provide the landing point for a new road bridge across the River Wear which in turn forms an integral part of a new transport corridor, linking the A19 to the Port. Such a structure will assist in opening up the development opportunity of the site.

In partnership with the site owners, O & H Properties, Sunderland arc is promoting the delivery of an urban village of international quality. While this will focus upon housing, substantial business space will also be included as will a proportion of neighbourhood shopping.
